Related by marriage to Quechan Tribal members Deborah Tourtillott and Leona Marquez (sisters-in-law), Eleanor Flores was told of the meaning of the Bird Dance from Deborah, one evening in 2019. Deborah was given this story by her Great Uncle many years ago. It was at that moment that Eleanor thought people may enjoy reading this heartfelt story that has been passed on through many generations. She then started learning how to turn this story into a book by taking a nine-week workshop. Leona then added her artistic talent by drawing the beautiful illustrations. Together, Eleanor, Deborah, and Leona created Bird Dance so that the story could be shared far and wide. People of all ages will enjoy this legendary tale. A variety of amazing Bird Dances are still performed today by Native American tribes.
